monday 1 /28 9am

monday 1/28 900 AMHis pain is controlled. He up and showering. Walking well. Dr is coming in this morning, possible he gets discharged today or tomorrow.

1/22 7pm

THURS 7 PM
He is up and walking a little bit. He is mostly sleeping, not much visiting. They pretty much have his pain controled. Color looks good. He will have an Ultrasound of heart (not sure if today) to see how the heart is looking
so they can determine whether he needs to continue blood thinners. He has chest tube draining his chest, they will hopefully remove soon.
They originally said he would recover a week and go home, this is day 2..he has to follow what they want him to do and he will make that deadline.

we got to see him late last night. He is talking. Joking as much as he can. Not moving much. He is still sedated. They will get him up to walk today though.

He is out of surgery. Doctor says that the heart looks strong. Right now they are weaning him off the ventilator.
He is sedated. He is awake and is answering questions (by nodding)His color looks REALLY REALLY good.
As they wean him they need to make sure the heart continues on the current path with no bleeding.
They hope to have him off the ventilator by 10-11 PM tonight. normal brain function is now our question... He is not
out of the woods yet...but we have jumped the biggest hurdle

please excuse spelling, and punctuation and hopefully this will make sense!!

Bryan has had a heart attack. They believe this was sometime during the past year. Due to that part of the heart being damaged, it basically formed a clot ( like a scab would form over a cut) over the damaged part. The clot has been growing, he was having chest pains for a while. Now that clot is so large it is blocking the artery 100%. There is also an aneurysm behind the clot. That clot on Thursday let go of a piece of itself and went to his brain and he had a stroke. That was the reason for being admitted and then followed with news about the heart. He had the stroke Thursday, as well as possibly one prior? The part of the heart that was damage is no longer viable. They can't save it.
Tuesday he will have open heart surgery. They are still unsure of their approach, but will determine this before they go in. They think they will cut the part of the heart out that is "dead" so that he doesn't clot again. The good news is that sutures hold good to dead tissue better than that of heathy heart tissue. So that is in his favor. The fact that he has had a stroke recently is not in his favor. When put on bypass machine for surgery they give you massive doses of blood thinners, if his brain is not strong enough yet he will bleed. But they have to proceed because the clot is so unstable.
Bryan had a few minor symptoms as a result of the stoke, but seems to be resolving. He is in good spirits, he is keeping us laughing, but he is very scared.
I think that is it. we will check the message every so often. Thanks for all the prayers!

Uncle Bryan

Well today we got word that Uncle Bryan was in the ER at the hospital. We hope he is alright! We are all praying. Audrey is really worrried and can't wait to call him. He is getting ready to have an angiogram. He has been having chest pain "for a while". They have not ruled out the possibilty of a stroke at this point either. Very scary. I wish we were closer. Debi's stepdad, Pat found him colapsed this morning. So for now we it's "wait and see" . Will keep updated.
